God of Jacob

Thinking about Psalm 20:1 -- where God is called the
"God of Jacob" --because he is the God of our fathers -- those
who have gone before us....
The phrase God of Jacob is used/quoted many times in scripture.

Written In Stone

Some people have such miserable lives, and they record all their sins on some blogger page.
I am not so bold, but I know that at the judgement day, all sins (public, private, secret, etc.)
will be exposed.

Will blogger be around in 2 more years -- need to back up my bloggs....
I am desiring something more permanent -- to record the lesson's learned in life
-- to pass along the truth to my children and grand-children.

Last Wednesday I went to Washington DC. with my three oldest daughters.
I have been there many times before, but not on a tour bus deal.
The thing that impressed me the most was all the things written in stone.
Everywhere we went, all day long, things were written in stone.
From the Vietnam-War-wailing-wall to the Lincoln-Memorial.... all the good stuff written in stone.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:4

He Will Make All Your Plans Succeed

I love Psalm 20 vs. 4:
"May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."
but I am carefully remembering that this bold and powerful verse is tied to the context around it
vs. 5: We will shout for joy when you are victorious and
will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.

This indicates to me that God's wonderful promise is given to those
who are willing to ask. So what's the problem?
You mean, God wants me to be successful, and all I have to do is
ask Him to grant me success, and he will freely grant my request?
Yes, but you must ask, and that involves humbling myself before the
almighty God and talking with him in prayer.... the natural inclination of man
ever since Adam's fall is to run from God and hide in the bushes - to avoid talking to God.
Why is it that I run from God?
Why do I avoid setting aside some time to walk and talk with God?

But here the benefits of prayer are boldly and clearly laid out.
So what is stopping me?

Some Trust In Chariots...

Today I'm starting my study of Psalm 20.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
My new goal is to spend at least 15 minutes each morning reading a new psalm, even though
it will take me a while to finish all my notes and web-pages on the other psalms.
