I think I should also try to memorize Psalm 19.
I will bring this up with the children at breakfast and we can memorize it together.
Normally our first step in doing this is to write it out on note-cards after breakfast.
By working on it as a group, we help eachother learn.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. (Ps.19:7)
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be accetable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.(Ps.19:14)

I am working on my study notes for Psalm 19 this week.
Hope to have the page(s) complete by Sunday morning.

Psalm 19 tells us something very important about reality
- we need revelation from God to know God and to understand what life is really all about.
Psalm 19 tells us that God has indeed revealed Himself to us in two ways: by creation and by law.

The goal of this journal/log is to chronicle my progress in the spiritual disciplines of prayer and bible study.
I think I will also take some of my daily bible study notes -- fix the structure, edit the content -- clean them up --
and publish them on the web -- on another web-site and in another structure.
Here I can log my progress and keep a few notes on my bigger project.

The log/journal approach is good for remembering where I've been and reviewing my goals
-- but may not be the best structure for publishing my Bible study notes.

And, my goal is to leave something for my children and grand children.... so I need to make sure
that whatever I come up with can be safely archived and backed up (and restored) -- for them
to read sometime in the future.

Yesterday afternoon, I read a few entries from a notebook/log I had started in 1978. J.J. gave me one of those blank book things back in 1977 or 78. Someone had suggested that keeping a journal was a good idea, and that I should try also to keep it goal oriented.

For instance, rather than simply having a long rambling journal, I should strive to set out my goals and intentions in writing,
and then review my progress. For example -- my doctor friend suggested back in 1978 to set goals such as
"I will read the book of Psalms this month", or "I will memorize Psalm 1 this month", or "I will pray for Mr. Jones this week.",
or "I will complete my outline and commentary of the Psalms this year."

Then, as part of my spiritual discipline -- I should also go back and review the progress (or lack of progress) toward meeting my goals.

Here I am 22 years later... doing a log/journal on the web,
and I think I finally understand the proper way to do it and make spiritual progress with it.
